The Village of Union is served by a 27-member, all volunteer fire department. The unmanned station is located on Main Street in Union.

Marengo 9-1-1 dispatchers respond to emergency calls by pagers.

The Union Fire Protection fleet includes six modern fire trucks, and one antique truck which is used for special events.

The district handles an average of 80 calls a year, and was founded in 1937.
Firemen participate in the Settler's Days parade and a host of other area events.
