The Economic Development Committee was founded in 2001 to encourage relocating companies to consider Marengo and Union as viable business development areas.

The Marengo-Union Economic Development Committee is a committee of the Marengo-Union Chamber of Commerce. The committee is works to promote a vibrant local economy. The committee is developing a marketing strategy and materials to promote Marengo and Union. A lead generation and handling systems is being created to match prospective employers and potential retail and service businesses with appropriate sites.
