To recruit volunteer workers from the residential, business and teenage student populations to pick up small litter from downtown Marengo and Union as well as roadways along other business areas. Large items, yard waste and hazardous materials are not a part of this program. Due to liability issues, we will only accept student volunteers of high school age and above.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Community assembles at City Lot behind Marengo Fire Department for continental breakfast, instructions, work sites and supplies. The clean up lasts from 9 - 11 a.m. Workers returnto the Fire Department for a light lunch and prize drawings.
COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT:
Committee sets policy, selects work sites, ecruits volunteers, sponsors and donors; promotes the event. Committee assigns volunteers to work sites and supervises activity on the date of the event.

Golf PlayDay: A full day of golfing with lunch, dinner, prizes and games.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
This event is primarily a networking event for Chamber members and their guests. Two weeks prior to the event, if there are any unreserved foursomes, the community is invited to participate. Volunteers are always welcome to help with the games.
COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT:
Committee prices and promotes the event, solicits golfers, hole sponsors, prize donors and volunteers. Committee insures a hole for hole-in-one prize. Committee sells Annual Raffle tickets. Committee selects menu, purchases door prizes and prepares necessary paperwork for golfing and other games.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Younger children and their parents are invited through flyers sent home from elementary schools as well as media coverage. Volunteers from the residential community are encouraged to assist.
COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT:
The Santa Visits Committee determines the location of each visit. Local Artist, Shirley Franicevic develops the artwork for the coloring contest where 3 girls and 3 boys in 3 separate age categories will be judged. The committee solicits donations to purchase prizes for the coloring contest as well as food and beverages for guests. The committee solicits volunteers for serving food, photographing each child, ornament signing, story telling and holiday music, and books Santa Claus for the event. In the past the event has also enjoyed appearances from Ms. Claus as well as Santa's reindeer.
